All these meters are best for you but the question is which type of glucometer you want. We will see all their feature and compare them to pick the best one for you.

Accu chek Active:







No coding is required but you just have to insert a black activation chip available in your test strip box and insert into the code key slot and keep it there permanently.


You have to apply the blood drop in the middle of the test strip on the green color area to get the correct result. And it takes about 5 seconds to show the result.


It alerts you when you are underdose(less blood drop applied to the test strip) or test strip is not applied correctly and you can re-dose after 10 seconds and this ensures you get the accurate results.


Blood sample required is about 1 to 2µl.


Display is large for easy viewing of your results and it takes about 5 seconds to show the result.


The device has 2 buttons to control the settings of date and time and viewing results.

Not at all coding required and you can directly use it from the start.


This is easier than Accu chek active and provide extra features than Accu chek active.


This device has a visual color printed onto the side of the screen of the Glucometer and when you measure your Blood glucose level an arrow mark in the screen will point towards one of the region of colors printed on the side of screen to tell you if your level is low (Red), normal (Green) or High (Blue).


Your test result and your averages (7/30/90 days) are visible on the meter.


Display is made of LCD backlit that allows to get clear view and readability in low light or night.


And you have to drop the blood at the end of the test strip on the yellow region and this seems easier as compared to Accu chek active where you have to apply the blood In the middle of the strip.

The blood sample required is 0.6-1μl


You can upload all your results through Bluetooth to mySugr app or through USB into your Computer (in Accu chek portal Online).


Shows the result within 4 seconds.

The meter stores upto 720 results.

Automatic power off in 90 seconds after you view the test result or 15 seconds after you remove test strip.

Accu chek Instant S:






All the features of Accu chek Instant is there in this Glucometer but you do not have a Bluetooth support in Accu chek Instant S and the only way you can transfer your data is by USB to your Computer.

And the price of this Glucometer is less as compared to Instant and other Glucometers.




Accu chek Guide:





The latest Accu chek glucometer which is more user friendly and has more features.

It has a Smartpack that lets you keep your Test strips and pick one easily without spilling the others.


You don’t have to take the test strip out with your hand and make your hands dirty but with one button you can directly push out the test strip from the Glucometer into waste and this ensures hygiene and easy disposal.


The display is great for viewing in day or night and it also has strip port light which helps you in putting the test strip in the right direction in night.


The results are automatically logged into the mySugr app and you can track your previous results in the app but the meter only shows the last reading and averages and all the other results in the app.

It has a Pattern detector that detects high or low patterns in blood glucose levels related to specific meals, bedtime and fasting which helps you in judging your specific overall results in specific time(meal ,bedtime or fasting) and this is only available in Guide Glucometer and is a great feature.


Memory is 720 results and the result appears in 4 seconds.


And it automatically switches on when you insert the strip and shuts down automatically after 15 seconds after you take out the strip.


Blood volume required is very low upto 0.6µl.

You can set upto 4 pre and post meal alerts and this helps you keep a good record of your result and never lets you forget to take the readings.


The device will beep 3 times in 2 minutes interval to alert your testing time which is not available in all Accu chek meters.

Results occurs within 5 seconds.

You don’t need to set date and time again and again because it saves the date and time for 3 days if you take out the battery (to save the power) and that is a good feature it provides.


The meter turns on automatically if you insert the test strips and turns off automatically within 2 minutes if left undisturbed.


Memory is of 500 results.

You can transfer the data using IR cable connected with your computer.

Blood Sample:

Blood sample is the main task in measuring the blood glucose level and everyone wants to save their blood. As Accu chek Active takes around 1 to 2 µL but all the other Glucometers take around 0.6 µL for measurement.


Sample area:

You have to apply your blood in the middle of the test strip for measurement in Accu Active but all the other Glucometer has a yellow region at the end and you just have to touch that region with blood and it will take the Measurement.


Display:

All the Glucometer Display are good and large which makes it easy to read and observe.

All the Glucometer including Accu chek active has 7, 14, 30 and 90 days average result.


Data Transfer:

Here Accu chek Guide and Instant can connect via Bluetooth and USB to transfer their results into mySugr app but the other Glucometer (Accu chek Instant, Performa and Active) can transfer only using USB cable to connect and transfer detail into your Computer.


Memory:

Accu chek Active and Performa has a memory of 500 results whereas Accu chek Instant, Instant S and Guide has a memory of 720 results.


Conclusion

Accu chek Active is a bit old and others are coming with new feature and improvement and Guide can be your choice as your next Glucometer. Instant is better than Instant S and Performa.

Accu chek Guide is expensive but provides much easier and hygienic handling and easy to transfer and view your data.

Accu chek Active is a affordable Glucometer with basic features and only USB transfer method being available.

Accu chek Instant S is the cheapest of all and just a drawback of only having USB transfer method.

Accu chek Instant is in the same range of Accu chek Active but more features and better viewing and transfer of your results.

Accu chek Performa also has some features and in its price range it is not justified.
